Biography
Richard A. Aborisade is a Professor of criminology and victimology in the Department of Sociology at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, Nigeria.
He received his undergraduate degree in sociology (2000) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan under the tutelage of Professor Emeka E. Obioha. He also obtained his MSc and PhD in sociology (deviance and crime) at the University of Ibadan in 2003 and 2008 respectively under the supervision of Professor Yinka Aderinto.
He also holds an MBA in Information Technology from Coventry University, United Kingdom in 2010. After brief stints in the Nigerian banking industry as a relationship officer and bank manager, he was appointed a lecturer at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State in 2011. In 2015, he left TASUED and was appointed a senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology, OOU, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. From 2016 to 2018 he served as Departmental Chair.
He was promoted to Full Professor in 2021. Aborisade has over 100 published articles in both local and international journals and has contributed nearly 30 chapters in scholarly books. He is the author of Crime and Delinquency: A Sociological Introduction; published by Ibadan University Press and has co-edited three books.
His research themes include violence against women and girls, policing 21st century Nigeria, security and sustainable development in Nigeria, and family- based violence. Articles from these works have been featured inreputable journals such as International Review of Criminology, Criminal Justice Ethics, Deviant Behavior, International Annals of Criminology, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, International Journal of Police Science & Management, Journal of Police and Criminal Psychology, and Women & Criminal Justice.
